Echo Road Press is an independent publisher with a singular focus: to bring forgotten histories to life and celebrate overlooked communities. We champion literature rooted in place—stories that explore how geography, landscape, and location inform human experience across time.
Our Approach
At Echo Road, we do things differently. Rather than releasing multiple titles each year, we pour all our energy and resources into publishing a single exceptional book. This allows us to fully support our authors and create immersive experiences that extend beyond the page.
Each year, we carefully select one manuscript that aligns with our mission and values. We seek out writing that pushes boundaries, challenges assumptions, and offers fresh perspectives on the places and communities that shape our lives. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or a genre-defying work, we’re committed to publishing books that have lasting impact.
We’re excited to announce our inaugural title, What Keeps Us—a collection of linked short stories by Jeanine Boulay, set for release in April 2026.
Our Process
We discover our books through a combination of an open reading period and solicited manuscripts. We accept unsolicited manuscripts in November of each year, during which time we welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds and experiences. We also actively seek out and collaborate with authors whose work we admire and who are exploring innovative ideas or styles.
Once we’ve selected our book for the year, we work closely with the author to refine and polish their manuscript. We provide comprehensive editorial support and guidance on marketing and publicity. Our goal is to create a beautifully crafted book that reflects the author’s unique vision and the significance of the places and communities they illuminate.
Beyond the Book
At Echo Road, our commitment to our authors extends far beyond publication day. We collaborate with them to organize events, workshops, and speaking engagements that engage readers and foster meaningful conversations. We believe in the power of books to bring people together and effect change, and we strive to create opportunities for our authors to connect with communities and inspire new ways of thinking.
